Lifelong Learning

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes.”
- Marcel Proust

Welcome to Lifelong Learning at Shaare Torah! Learning is neither confined to childhood nor the classroom, but takes place throughout life and in a wide range of environments. Learning can be intellectual, spiritual, and emotional. At Shaare Torah our goal is to provide all manner of learning opportunities for all ages and to bring to fruition Shaare Torah’s Derech Mitzvah, Path to Responsibility. It is widely recognized that kehila, community, is an essential component of Jewish life and learning. In order to continue to grow as Jews and people, Shaare Torah offers a wealth of opportunities for us to join together to learn and develop in many ways. We offer the following programs:

Nursery School
Programming is available for two, three and four year olds
The Shaare Torah Nursery School is committed to maximizing each child’s learning potential by encouraging and nurturing each child to become a motivated, confident and independent learner. We are also committed to helping each child develop a sense of spirituality and understanding of their Jewish heritage, as they participate in the Jewish life of our community.

Religious School

Kindergarten through seventh grade
Our religious school seeks to provide an education designed to inspire our students to lead their lives as identifying, ethical, committed Jews. Our purpose is to create a warm, yet challenging, learning environment to instill the skills and values that enable our students to understand their heritage and live the rich spiritual and ethical life that Judaism offers.

Adult Education
At Shaare Torah, we have a thriving program for adults who are interested in continuing their pursuit of Jewish learning. Our Director of Lifelong Learning, Rabbi Alana Suskin, works with the Adult Education Committee to develop programs for the congregation that run the gamut – from the study of Jewish tradition and texts to the perspectives of guest lecturers speaking on contemporary issues.
